Minister for IT blasts PTCL and Ufone management over poor performance

In a surprising move, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom just published a tweet which shows that the Minister held a meeting with PTCL and Ufone top brass to express his anger at the company’s performance in Pakistan. It must be noted here that PTCL is one of the top Internet Service Providers in Pakistan despite a huge number of complaints on network quality and customer service. On the other hand, Ufone was the last telco in Pakistan to finally roll out 4G in April last year.

Given below is the tweet by the Ministry of IT:

Federal Minister MOITT Syed Amin Ul Haque expressed Strong Anger over the Performance of PTCL, Ufone

PTCL lags far behind in #technology & #innovation race. If the company continues like this, it will soon lose the trust of people.#PTCLUfonePoorPerformance @PTCLOfficial

— Ministry of IT & Telecom (@MoitOfficial) September 11, 2020

The tweet is unprecedented as the ministry’s account is mostly praising the efforts of tech companies and telcos alike in Pakistan. The Ministry also announced that there will 0% sales tax on IT exports in the country and the Federal Minister Syed Amin Ul Haque will personally talk with Sindh Government for this implementation.

The Ministry also tweeted with a hashtag #PTCLUfonePoorPerformance which might make it trending on Twitter if the tweet gets viral. The PTCL management has yet to issue any comments on the meeting with the Minister, we will keep you updated if anything comes up!
